Our Construction Project Manager
The Newt in Somerset is a luxury country estate and hotel operated by Emily Estate UK Ltd. The Estate’s development department comprises of a small team of full-time designer, commercial manager and project managers who are responsible for delivering all capital investment projects for the business. These diverse projects include the construction of new buildings, gardens, landscapes, exhibitions as well as renovations or improvements to existing facilities.
We are seeking to appoint a Construction Project Manager to support the work of the Development Team and take individual responsibility for some projects within our exciting programme of works.
Key Objectives
- To assist the Development Team in delivering the overall programme of capital projects, professionally on time and on budget.
- To uphold excellent project processes and cost controls across all of our work.
- To take lead responsibility for specific projects and run them successfully to completion.
- To be present on site regularly monitoring progress and working with the project team and contractors to deliver success.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, procure and manage various projects taking place across the Estate.
- Liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure the success of the project.
- Prepare and present regular project updates and reports to the Development Team.
- Manage and maintain project information, drawings and resources.
- Ensure high standards of workmanship by monitoring projects closely.
- Identify and act to mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all works and contractors comply with relevant regulations, health & safety standards.
- Support the team with the administration of invoices, payments and purchasing.
- The role is based full time on the Estate with no scope for home or remote working.

What we're looking for
- A degree level qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or similar related fields.
- 5+ years experience working in a construction project management role, ideally client side.
- A proactive problem solver with attention to detail and a results-driven mindset.
- Excellent experience and knowledge of construction industry and activities, trades, materials and technologies.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and collaborate with employer, colleagues, project team consultants and contractors/suppliers.
- Strong written and verbal communication/reporting skills.
- Familiarity with project management tools and software.
- Full driving license
