Our Painter Decorator
Working within our Engineering team, our Painter Decorator plays an important role in maintaining the exceptional presentation and high standards across The Newt estate. From elegant hotel interiors to beautiful visitor spaces, you will apply your craft across a variety of buildings and environments, ensuring every surface reflects the quality and care our guests expect. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys variety, and can work both independently and as part of a collaborative maintenance team supporting the estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and finish internal surfaces including walls, ceilings, woodwork and trims to estate standards
- Apply external paints and protective coatings to maintain durability and visual consistency
- Remove old coatings, fill and sand surfaces, and complete preparation tasks prior to repainting
- Apply wallpaper and specialist finishes where required
- Plan and schedule decorating work with Engineering, Hotel and Visitor Attraction teams to minimise disruption
- Maintain decorating equipment, tools and material stock levels
- Follow health & safety and COSHH procedures when handling paints, solvents and equipment
- Support general estate maintenance and presentation through touch-ups and minor repairs

What we're looking for
- Proven experience in painting and decorating, ideally within commercial, hospitality or high-end properties
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation techniques and modern decorating materials
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality finishes
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- Good time management and organisation skills
- Understanding of health & safety practices, including working at height
- A proactive and hands-on approach to maintenance tasks
- UK driving licence desirable
Where you'll be working
The Engineering Department looks after the Companies assets (Buildings, Mechanical plant and Vehicles), conducting scheduled checks and preventive maintenance in all areas of the estate. Engineering also respond to guest requests should they have issues and to colleague requests from different areas.
