Our Housekeeper

From freshly prepared beds to beautifully presented guest suites, it’s the thoughtful details that make a stay feel special. As Housekeeper at The Angel Inn, you’ll take pride in keeping our accommodation and public areas clean, comfortable and welcoming. Working independently, with support from the General Manager and the wider team, you’ll organise your day, prepare rooms for arrivals and bring The Newt’s housekeeping standards to this characterful community pub.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and prepare guest suites, including bedrooms, living areas and bathrooms, to our housekeeping standards.
• Complete room changeovers, changing linen, replenishing amenities and adding the finishing touches before guests arrive.
• Keep public toilets, corridors and stairwells clean and well stocked, supporting cleaning in pub areas when needed.
• Carry out scheduled deep cleaning and spot areas that need extra attention.
• Organise clean linen, prepare used linen for collection and monitor housekeeping supplies.
• Check room equipment and promptly report maintenance issues, damage, hazards or lost property.
• Keep cleaning equipment and storage areas clean, organised and secure.
• Follow safe cleaning practices, hygiene procedures and property security requirements.

What we’re looking for

• A careful eye for detail and pride in creating clean, welcoming spaces.
• The ability to work independently, take initiative and organise your time effectively.
• A friendly, professional approach towards guests and colleagues.
• Reliability, adaptability and a willingness to learn.
• The ability to follow cleaning schedules, checklists and procedures.
• Clear communication, including reporting anything that could affect room readiness or standards.
• Previous housekeeping or professional cleaning experience would be welcome, ideally within hospitality or guest accommodation.
• A willingness to complete onsite training in safe cleaning practices and COSHH. No formal qualifications are required.

The Angel is a new pub with rooms in the heart of Castle Cary, created by The Newt in Somerset and shaped by the same respect for place, seasonality and thoughtful hospitality that runs through the estate. Rooted in the town and its community, The Angel will serve food and carefully chosen drinks, with ingredients drawn from The Newt in Somerset estate and trusted producers wherever possible. Alongside the pub, three individually designed guest suites provide accommodation in Castle Cary. The team works across food and beverage service and guest accommodation, collaborating closely with kitchen and housekeeping colleagues to maintain consistent standards throughout the guest experience.
