Our Facilities Manager
Step into a pivotal role at The Newt in Somerset, where history, luxury, and innovation come together. As Facilities Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind keeping our stunning estate’s buildings and grounds in top shape—ensuring every corner runs safely and smoothly to create unforgettable experiences for our guests and team. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance of all estate buildings and guest areas, including listed properties, public spaces, and operational facilities.
- Ensure all systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, BMS, fire safety, water, lighting, AV) are safe, compliant, and fully operational.
- Lead on statutory compliance, risk assessments, and health & safety procedures.
- Manage small capital projects and external contractors, ensuring minimal disruption and high standards.
- Set and monitor budgets, drive cost-efficiency, and explore sustainable practices.
- Foster a proactive, guest-focused team culture and report regularly on performance, asset condition, and compliance.

What we're looking for
- 5+ years' experience in facilities or estate management, ideally within hospitality, luxury retail, or heritage settings.
- Strong knowledge of compliance, especially within historic or guest-facing environments.
- Confident managing people, contractors, and cross-departmental relationships.
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced setting.
- Computer literate (CMMS, reporting tools); project management experience is a plus.
- Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH, IWFM/BIFM are highly desirable.
- Experience managing complex, high-footfall sites is an advantage.
Where you'll be working - The Engineering Team
The Engineering Department looks after the company’s assets — buildings, IT infrastructure, mechanical plant, and vehicles. We carry out scheduled checks, preventative maintenance, and respond quickly to requests from guests and colleagues across the estate.
