Our Father Christmas (St Nicholas)

You’ll deliver The Newt’s cherished St Nicholas experience—an enchanting, immersive grotto visit that delights children and grown-ups alike. In full costume, you’ll stay in character, tell stories, give thoughtful gifts, pose for photos, and work seamlessly with our Christmas Helpers to ensure every guest enjoys a truly memorable festive moment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Portray Father Christmas with warmth, authenticity and festive cheer
  • Greet and engage children, families and guests—always in character
  • Create magical moments through storytelling, conversation and personalised gift-giving
  • Pose for photographs to elevate the experience
  • Partner with Christmas Helpers to manage guest flow, timings and logistics
  • Maintain a joyful, immersive atmosphere in the grotto throughout the day
  • Wear and care for the Father Christmas costume (including beard/wig)
  • Represent The Newt with professionalism so every visit feels exceptional

What we’re looking for

  • DBS checked (essential) or willing to be DBS checked
  • Warm, friendly and approachable—able to embody festive cheer
  • Energetic and confident engaging with children and adults
  • Strong storyteller with excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable performing in costume and speaking publicly
  • Detail-oriented, tailoring interactions so every visit feels unique
  • Punctual and reliable with great time management
  • Background in acting/performance/entertainment
