Our Dairy Herdsperson

We are looking for an experienced herdsman to work with our herd of water buffalo.

It is a newly established herd where we are currently milking 70 buffalo but this is looking to grow in future years. The farm is brand new and has state of the art equipment with modern farm buildings and milking parlour, robotic feed pushers and calf feeders and modern farm machinery. All milk will be used by our in house cheesemakers, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to a larger farming business that includes a farm shop, online sales, restaurants and a hotel.

The candidate will form part of a small on farm team, reporting to the Dairy Manager and in turn Farm Manager of a larger mixed farming operation.

The main day to day tasks would include milking in a herringbone parlour, calf rearing and general tractor jobs such as feeding and bedding.

What we're looking for

Previous experience of the dairy industry but be seeking a new challenge with our water buffalo
A desire to develop a productive milking operation which aligns with the Regenerative Agricultural practises we use throughout our farm
Excellent communication skills and teamwork
Understanding of the priorities across the wider farming operation and the importance the milking herd plays in this.
A driving license is required
A telehandler license is desirable
